I have most of the original paperwork For my boat and believe the dry weight on our boats is about 5,800 lbs. if you need any specifics I'll be glad to copy what you need and send it your way. Just saying.

I really hate this time of year when everyone "hunkers down" just waiting for Spring so we can once again start looking forward to boating season. I especially hate it when the forum goes quite as I normally check it at least twice a day for new post. Anyway, waiting for my son to pick me ...

Re: Looking for a 26’ Marinette

I believe the Dale Hollow boat was the one that actually caused my latest case of "boat fever". It was advertised as a 1961, 31' with a 9' beam. Round Windows both sides, dual station with the Gray Marine (AMC) 225. Boat was named Moby Dick and I actually made an offer but the owner didn't...

Nice boat and you're going to love it. I have a 72 express, no FB, that's my favorite boat of all times. 72 degrees and the Sun is shining in Tennessee today and I'd be boating if not for getting up these damn leaves before tomorrow's rain. You're going to love the forum, welcome aboard.

Re: Cold engine fix

I don't want to go fast, just trying to get an indication as to whether I'm were I need to be. Sweet spot seems to be at 2500, 16-17 mph. A fellow boater rode with me an said he thought I would use less fuel at this setting than 2,000 rpm at 11-12mph. I have huge trim tabs, Bennett 11 x 42 that came...

Cold engine fix

I have had my 1972 28' Express, single 318 on the water for 3 months and could not get it to run right. Temp gage never would read over 110 degrees so figured the gauge was bad as had confirmed that a thermostat was installed. Finally followed Fast Jeffs advice and bought a Laser thermometer at Lowe...

Re: Backfire at idle

Thanks Jeff. I'll probably start with a new set of plug wires since I've already had one go bad and go from there.

Backfire at idle

I Had a dead miss a few days ago and found that # 1 cylinder had a bad plug wire. I replaced the wire and replaced the plug and this fixed the miss. Took a short cruise, boat ran fine. Started the engine at the dock this past Friday and immediately had intermittent backfire tru the port exhaust, mos...
