Re: Waste tank/s setup question

Good stuff here. What ever you do replace any aluminum waste tank with plastic. The acid in waste will eat up the aluminum tanks after a couple of decades.

Re: lower helm removal 1985 39'

Need some pictures. On the 32' you take off the wheel. Unscrew 4 big bolts, take off the big ring washer and push the hydraulic pump unit out the back. Do not take off any hoses.

Re: Bimini Top

I put a new bimini top on my 32' fbs last summer. It fit perfectly, covers the whole flybridge and attaches mostly to the rails. I can' find the purchase order here so it is probably on the boat. I got it from amazon or ebay and it was well under $200. Point is you may want to just buy the whole bim...

Re: New counter tops

Thanks for the pics. I finally got my 32' fbs to original 1988 condition. Everything works and the engines run great. I am now collecting ideas for some nice upgrades. I will add your pics to my collection.

Re: 39 Sedan purchase & transport

knock a couple of 1" x 2" sticks together mark some measurements making a "story pole". Make another stick and use a bubble level to intersect the grounded pole. You can get the accurate height of any feature on your decks. I have to take my flybridge seats and rails off every ye...

Re: 1985 Sportsman Restoration Beginning

I had my cockpit deck pieces sprayed light grey at a Rhinoliner dealer overlapping the backside 6". Then I painted the underside with white porch paint. No need for expensive 5/8" marine plywood. I stained and varnished luan with a nice figure to replace the delaminated salon panels on an ...

Re: 1985 Sportsman Restoration Beginning

5/8" for flooring will fit better. Use stainless steel screws.
Get some Tef Gel for anti-sieze and to keep aluminum from reacting.

Re: Replace your cockpit floor

Cut new 5/8" plywood using old wood or 1/4" luan as a pattern. Take the pieces to a Rhinoliner and coat them overlapping edges by six or eight inches. This is a lifetime fix.

Re: Salon floor upgrade

I sanded and stained the plywood minwax gunstock followed by floor grade poly. I just finished the perimeter not the hatches. I then got a nice persian style rug to cover the hatches and most of the floor area. To get to the engine hatch you just pull the rug aside. If it gets old or stained buy ano...

Mermaid AC problem solved

I got a Mermaid AC with my 1988 32' project boat. I needed to have it serviced. The AC tech weighed about 350 lbs and didn't want to crawl into the "wine cellar" under the salon deck to get at the unit. I had to take it out and bring it to his shop. Hire a skinny tech for boat work. The un...
