Re: Refrigerator Replacement

I just went through this issue on our 1988 41 Marinette. It had an 8 cu ft Norcold DE828 that had a separate compressor for the cold section and one for the freezer section. It used a lot of energy. The compressor for the cold section locked up. The twin power supplies are ok. In the end, I opted fo...

Re: Bow Rail Restoration

I like how both Jeff and Carl handled the bow rail corrosion issue. I repaired my rail bases in 2009. Before doing it, I called the engineers at Broward Yachts which are all aluminum and normally in salt water. They acknowledged the tough nature of the problem. Their solution in 2009 was to weld alu...

Re: Carb Problem

If someone changed the fuel lines on the boat to alcohol resistant, they could be your problem. The early alcohol resistant fuel lines were a laminate structure. The interior wall would deteriorate and flake off. The flakes would accumulate at the next convenient stopping point, like the entrance to...

Re: air conditioner duct hose diameter

I am sorry for not responding quicker. The air duct to the rear stateroom is 5 inch diameter. Menards shows it as an online order. Problem is it takes 4 weeks to arrive. I went to an HVAC distributor and they had the 5 inch flex duct. What caused the problem originally was a clogged condensate drain...

Re: air conditioner duct hose diameter

I know I can measure it if I was at the boat. It is 200 miles away. Just trying to anticipate the size, so I can buy the right hose before going to the boat.

air conditioner duct hose diameter

I have a 1988 Marinette 41 Aft Cabin with two Cruisair units. The insulated flexible duct feeding the rear stateroom has the innner liner collapsed so no air can go through the duct. Does anyone know what size this duct is. I am guessing 4 inch inside diameter, but would like to know if this is it b...

Re: Stalling near dock

The tachs on the Marinettes are often inaccurate. Borrow an optical tachometer (reads reflective tape put on engine crankshaft pulley) and calibrate your tachs. My tach reads 1000, when in reality the engines are turning 800 rpm.

Re: Repowering my 41

Wow, those are low prices for the job. I assume the boat is on the hard. I assume to raise the engines out of the hull, they will use a portable a-frame lift with a chain hoist? Will you be able to take some pictures, and share the job with us? Good luck and happy boating with those new engines!

Re: Repowering my 41

What is your budget for this repower? Do you have a breakdown of labor vs engine and parts? I think the 454's have to be partially disassembled in the hull, extracted and passed out the large salon window. While you have room, might as well have the transmisssions resealed and checked. I think new C...
