Valve cover gasket 440 300hp.
Stupid question, I need to do valve cover gaskets on my 440s. They are the old style 1969 to be exact. Any idea if I can slip them out without pulling the manifolds? It looked like I could but I only quickly glanced at it when I noticed one was sleeping a bit.

Re: Carb rebuild time?
90%of carb problems are ignition problems. I wouldn't get into that carb at all.

440 parts needed
I am in need of a starboard 440 distributor. Not long ago I saw a set of 440s for sale. If someone doesn't want to separate a distributor from a motor I may be interested in the entire engine or both if need be and fair. Thank you in advance.

Re: One out of two ain't bad.
Yes, thx charlie. I pulled the points plate and found a bit driver wedged in the advance weights that caused the spoon in the drive gear to shear off. typical case of previous owner stupidity. I can't blame the big m for anything. Every problem I have had was because of the negligent owner before me...

One out of two ain't bad.
So we were running about an hour out today and lost the starboard motor. I climbed into the bilge btw: it was a bit warm in there. Lol. So no spark. Power to the coil. Pulled the cap and cranked it, nothing. After a three hour tour and docking on uno im drinking to tonight but tomorrow I'll pull the...

Re: 440 recommended spark plug
Good input Jim. I agree with everything he said. I've run platinum plugs in newer hemis and they code for misfires same as the immediate power loss in ls motors if anything but delco being run from the knock sensors pulling timing.

Re: 440 recommended spark plug
I'll start with this. I hate champion plugs, they don't run well in alot of applications. Even though they make plugs for alot of other names. With that out of the way, champion plugs are the only thing that runs right in Chryslers. I wouldn't try any platinum plugs. The resistance and gapping of th...

Re: Following Seas
My old style 32 is the same. I try to run faster than the waves. It may not be the safest but it is to me because I know I can handle stuffing a wave or falling in a trough yet I don't know that I could handle the transom push when it gets real big from behind. They just aren't designed for followin...

Re: Replace your cockpit floor
I redid mine last year. Four pieces of 3/4 marine plywood one full sheet 8x4 on each side in the front and smaller pieces in the rear than center strips and the doors. I wrapped all the panel's with nautalex from defender. Painted the wood first, then stapled the edges underneath and called over the...
