Re: Carb rebuild time?

If you need help, contact Ron Spies. Hes a FYC member and a Marinette owner. Lives 1 mile from the club. Will do that for sure going to check the basic simple stuff before we call the calvary. I'm sure he's quite busy with that awesome 34 he just acquired. Looking at that boat makes you wonder what...

Re: Alternator

You can test the regulator by placing a jumper wire between the power and field wires on the alternator plug. Start the motor. If you have voltage at the dash meter, the regulator is bad. You can have my spare voltage regulator from the 28. It was converted to one wire by the previous owner. He left...

Fel-Pro Gaskets

If you ever need engine gaskets, you can call Fel-Pro or post in their on-line forum. They are very responsive. http://www.felpro-only.com/break_room_forum/ I was able to order the top end gasket set for our 318, #17250, through Autozone. The set ships direct from the Fel-Pro warehouse and are a nex...

Re: Fuel Filter

The element should be a Perko 0324001ELM. This element measures 1.75" x 1.75". This is the filter in use in our OEM bronze filter housings.

Re: Carb rebuild time?

Before tearing into the carbs, grab a timing light and verify ignition advance at 2,000+ RPM. If you don't have at least 20 degrees of advance, the advance weights might be rusted or an advance spring may be broken. Easy fix and might only cost you an hour and a few squirts of oil.

Re: Regular Maintenance Questions

I had the same "hard" steering issue with our 28' last season. It was more apparent during starboard turns. This is the direction pulling the cable over the steering gear inside the gear box. The ultimate problem was the steering gear box behind the helm. It was bone dry. I pulled the cabl...

Re: Chrysler marine replacement distributors

I bought Pertronix distributors last month. The two part numbers are D241801 (Red Cap) and D241800 (Black Cap). I believe the part number difference is the cap color.

Machine shop for cylinder head service in Atlanta Area

Looking for a machine shop in the Atlanta area to rebuild / refurbish a set of 318 heads. Nothing wrong with the heads. Simply having them serviced while off the motor.

Thanks in advance.
