New steering wheel

After installing the Seamaster hydraulic steering system I wanted a new steering wheel. I like big wheels, I guess it goes back to the days when I owned a 1955 Buick with no power steering, it took a big wheel to turn my first ride. The wheel on my 1987 28' is somewhat big about 20"s but has sp...

Re: Micron CF bottom paint performance

Hi Bill,
I switched to Blue Water Shelter Island copper free 3 years ago with great results. It's about 25% less than Trilux 33 and sheds slime and zebra mussels as well or better.

Re: Steermaster steering replacement

I finally finished installing the Seastar hydraulic system in my 28' single station Marinette, would I do it again? Maybe! It was a lot more work than I originally thought. The helm pump install needed a larger hole cut into the dash board, The nylon lines are difficult to bend and work with, to ins...

Re: Steermaster steering replacement

I really appreciated all the advice about the steermaster replacement. Bill no need to apologize, I sometimes take things the wrong way and I hope you like the improved signature. I was ready to order a Teleflex safe T system, I called Teleflex seastar solutions and they suggested that I replace the...

Steermaster steering replacement

I have a 28' 1987 Marinette express (no bridge) with twin 318's. This season I noticed excessive play in the steering, yesterday I finished removing the 28 year old steermaster system. I am confused on what to replace the old system with, I have ruled out a hydraulic system ( about 1000.00 for the s...

Re: Questions About Bad Fuel

I just had a similar fuel problem, my solution and it seems to be working. The spin on filters were clogged with yellowish brown stuff, I have a aluminum tank. I changed the spins, shut off fuel valve and ran dry. Next I added 5 cans of seafoam also added 5 oz of water zorb. The 318's ran fine but n...

Re: Rehabbing my Marinette Sea-Crest

Hi jtalberts, After owning 3 Marinettes a 37, a 32 and now a 28' express I learned most of them were leaking current through the shafts, the plastic isolators and bolt insulation fail after a time. The solution for me has been to install Drive savers, a bit expensive at about 225.00 per shaft but th...

Re: Hello Fellow Marinette owners

Hi Weldzilla, The pic of your boat shows an express not a sedan. The 1972 32' sedan came with sliding glass doors and helm on the port side. I believe 1972 was the first year for the 32' sedan and the factory basically converted an express to a sedan, the later years also had the convertible bed/cou...
