Re: New here
Wiring will be pretty simple once you get it figured out. Draw a picture or diagram as you get it figured out. Use an Ohmmeter to sort the wires and you may want to change some and clean it up as you go.--Ed

Re: front glass
If it's the opening window you're talking about, just remove it and take it to a good glass shop. They will also have gaskets and glass, but cheaper to have them do it. Keep the windshield glass closed and clamped shut when you're not there. I've had broken glass from the wind banging the window ope...

Re: prop shaft isolation help. Drivesaver not an option
For washers you can make them easily from bleach or other poly bottles. Cut a flat piece out, drill or punch center holes and punch or use scissors for the outside circle. Make some extra. You can make them faster than you can go to the store. After you put it together, test with ohmmeter set on low...

Re: 32 sedan improper lay-up for winter storage
Only need to change the strut bushing (cutless ) if it is worn and you have excessive play ( slop in the shaft ). The packing box should be loosened before pulling the shaft. No need to change every time, but it is cheap and easy to change the packing if you want to. I've set my boat on the trailer ...

I would measure the maximum thickness that will fit and make two new ones out of Teflon. Real easy to have a machine shop or any one with a lathe and drill press make out of Teflon. Give them the old one for a sample. Teflon is easy to work with. Then sleeve the bolts and use plastic washers on eith...

Re: Help understanding cooling of a 1970 Single 318 Express
Tried to look at your pic and got lots of spam and garbage. You may have a virus that will attach itself to the pic or the link. I use shrinkpic.com to reduce the content of the pics. Has a feature for making an avatar too. For the cooling I just take the hose from the seacock and put it in a 5 gall...

Re: Rudder Cable Isolation
On mine there are plastic washers and a sleeve on the bolt where the cable is attached to the bell crank to the rudder steering systems. Also found that my cable steering was built by a company in Detroit. Now out of business. Glen-L sailboat company had a few parts but were expensive and I needed t...

Re: Packing Boxes
Yes to all the above. The fiber cutless bearings are about $40 each. You don't need to pay to have them pressed in. Get about 12 inches or so of half inch all thread, washers and nuts to fit. Back off set screws if you have them, clean up the strut, lube the bearing and squeeze it in with the all th...

Re: Diesel Repower 1989 32' Fisherman
I would love to have diesels but just couldn't justify it for myself. First thing is make sure you have room for the Cummins. I have one in a truck, I like them and it would have been my first choice. I think you might find the Cummins is taller and may be a problem. Just a warning. Otherwise with t...

Re: rudder linkage?
That one on e-bay looks like it would work if the length is the same. ( it looks like brass, not stainless ) otherwise find one used from a scrapped boat or make one from a piece of stainless bar. To make one would be the fastest if you need it now. The old one could be brazed and machined to repair...
