Back pressure?

Recently my BigM seems very finicky about the exhaust outlets being submerged. Under typical conditions they sit 2-3 inches above the water. When we back it down the boat ramp, she won't start if the outlets are under water. Then, a few days ago we had some extra people on board which caused the exh...

Bill...I have followed this whole thread closely. Definitely feel your pain and frustration. A (small) upside to this situation is that the details of this conversation are extremely valuable to all BigM owners troubleshooting a variety of engine issues. Look forward to seeing what you can find out ...

Re: Rough seas

Worst I have done so far is 3-4 footers in my 28'. She wobbles and bobbles all over the place but I have not felt threatened. Have to go slow. If I try to cruise she pounds. The main problem is I get so much wind shield spray that visibility is almost nothing. Have to use the GPS almost exclusively ...

Re: picture of hull annodes.

A 37 should have a long anode bar on each side of the keel. Between 4-5 feet in length. As well as aluminum anodes on the trim tabs and rudders. These could be round or just a flat bar. Moderate corrosion on the anodes is fine but if they look really chewed up then they need to be replaced. Plastic ...

Re: Aluminum in Salt water

These are the ingredients of Trilux 33, pulled from the Interlux Website. Note the second ingredient, Cuprous thiocyanate . It is a copper derivative. This stuff is considered safe for aluminum hulls IF you have a proper barrier coat in place. Cuprous oxide is the main antifouling agent in paint for...

Re: Bridge clearance requirements for 32 FB

You will need more than 9.

My 28 express (no flybridge) needs 9.5 feet of bridge clearance and that's if I fold down all my flags and antenna.

A 32 flybridge will be a couple feet taller.

Re: Kicker motor

One of the guys on the Marinette Facebook page posted this video awhile back. It's a 9.9 hp outboard mounted to the swim platform for fishing/trolling. He got about 2 mph out of it. https://www.facebook.com/bryan.oetting/videos/g.17048184974/10207097390253550/?type=2&theater Not sure if the vide...

Re: Exhaust hose advice

John, I thought the Vetus hose was very easy to work with. Once the old hose was off, there was rust and scale on the exhaust elbow. I scraped this off and used a bunch of dish soap like others have suggested. New hose went on no problem. You do have to watch it with that wire in both the old and ne...

Re: Bottom Paint Touch Ups with new anodes

In that case - you could just sand those spots that will be left exposed when the old anodes are removed. If there are bare metal spots, sand to shiny aluminum. Immediately prime with interlux primocon before the aluminum oxidizes. They make a spray paint version of Primocon for these small jobs. The...
