Re: Proper place to ground AC system/shorepower

 Hopefully its not the same as we found when tearing out the electrical two bridged 15 amp breakers absolutely no ground to the hull anywhere copper wires running over hard edges it was a horror show we're lucky no one got electrocuted. Being that you have a 1970 and the setup sounds errily f...

I'd try pulling the related pushrods out of the affected cylinder if they are bent they must likely will not come out easily that will more or less confirm hydrolock. Id be concerned about the c...

Re: Fuse block in engine bay?

Green is suppose to be your AC safety ground. DO NOT CONFUSE GREEN AND COMMON. IN A WATERCRAFT OR RV YOU MUST ISOLATE YOUR WHITE COMMON FROM THE GREEN SAFETY GROUND! THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!!!!!! House wiring binds common to ground. In boats and RV's this is not the case! ABYC required all DC ...

Re: rudder packing

BigM On my 1974 32' and my 1975 37' I had to remove the linkage to get access to the plastic rudder packing retainer glands cotter pins. That said, especially if you are in the water :!:  Once you remove the linkage make sure you have a way of holding onto the rudder, other wise it will torpe...

Re: more re-wire gutting updating cursing and drinking

Rick, Would appear that standard Schedule 40 2 1/2" OD pipe has an ID of 2.445" ( http://www.harvel.com/piping-systems/harvel-pvc-pipe/schedule-40-80/dimensions). That's the "thick wall (plumbing) stuff. As you may have found, Lowes and Home Depot carry that in stock. For just a race...

Re: more re-wire gutting updating cursing and drinking

Did your boat originally have PVC? I have a 72 that has a thin wall alluminum pipe running from the cockpit floor to the ceiling. Then another short piece from the roof to under the flybridge dash. With alluminum pipe you could have the strength you need and a larger I.D. for a given O.D. Well........
