Re: Before and After Topside Color Scheme
A friend of mine was repainting a yacht in the sixty five foot range. This was a high end vessel and he wanted to go dark blue metallic. I believe he told me it took around 20 gallons of filler to fair each hull side. White has its pros.

Re: Understanding the CAPAC
My understanding of the CAPAC system is as follows: All you are doing is measuring the voltage your boat creates by being in the water. The gauge reads milivolts and the button just completes the circuit to the gauge. The circuit is separate from your AC or DC system. It reads DC volts. One lead fro...

Re: Engine blocks/parts FREE
Do you have the heads and cranks? If so I would be interested to know the casting numbers. Also may be interested to know the block numbers.

Re: Before and After Topside Color Scheme
Altering the paint job can have an incredible effect on a boat. The blue and white were reversed topside on my boat. Changed the whole look. As stated earlier, darker than white on your deck or cabin top, as cool as it looks, heats things up. I have never had a problem walking on my decks in the sun...

Re: Broken steering cable
My boat also has the Steermaster setup using outboard style cables. Inexpensive and works good. Not as good as hydraulic, but good enough to be safe.

Re: Twin Screw Engine Rotation...
The cams do spin clockwise in both engines by means of chain in one and gear to gear on the other as stated, however, I believe the cams are different between the two. I will have to double check my sources on this.

Re: Packing Gland Hose Replacement
After checking a few older Marinettes, it looks like the 1.875"-1.750" difference may be standard using a piece of 1.875" hose. My boat, as well as all the others, had 1.875" softwall exhaust hose (which is 2 ply) used on all packing glands. Two clamps seals it up just fine on th...

Re: Twin Screw Engine Rotation...
The true marine water pumps for the GM engines (and most for that matter) have stainless straight blades instead of the angled blades. This makes them bi-directional. They also have a different seal setup for raw water. The distributors are identical. The rotor rotation is the same for both engines,...

Re: Packing Gland Hose Replacement
Both my prop shaft and rudder shaft glands were mismatched from the tubes. Not sure if that was factory or not. They sealed up just fine with new hose.
