Yes, BTU would be helpful. Really leaning towards a portable. I like the aesthetics of the old girl (mine's a 1962 30') so I'd have to do some soul searching to cut any holes or have anything showing outside that would detract from her looks. To me she's perfect the way she is. At the end of the day...

Bill, how do the portables work for you? I'm thinking it might be nice to be able to move the heating and cooling source around. Any drawbacks to it though? What brand did you go with or would you recommend?

Yikes. I was thinking 8,000 btu would be plenty based on square footage. Kinda thinking about a portable at this point. I plan to enclose the aft deck in canvas so I t would be nice to have a/c or heat I can move around.

Air Conditioning

There's a roof hatch in the forward berth of my 30' M. I'm guessing it's a 14x14 opening which would be the right size for an A/C unit. Anyone use it for that? Would save from having to cut another hole in the hull.

Stern mount thruster

Saw on Facebook M group one of the guys is using a stern mount thruster. Anyone familiar with this? Was said to be $600 which is sounds reasonable!

Since the material is canvas, guessing it's going to require a heavy duty sewing machine? Can't say I've ever run any kind of sewing machine. Is it a steep learning curve?
