Re: net wt.

If the transporter has the right type of trailer he can back into the water at a launch ramp and pull it like a small boat. If it is on land he may be able to get the trailer under the boat if it is blocked high enough. The transporter we used was recommended to us by several local marinas. He pulle...

Re: net wt.

We have removed the fly bridge ourselves on two occasions. The first was to prepare for transport after purchasing. The second was for re-paint. It was not a difficult task, it just takes a little time. I have a few pictures that hopefully will be of some help. The factory wiring came up from below ...

Re: net wt.

The beam on our 39 is supposed to be 13' 6". I have never actually measured it. As for the weight, the operator of the Travel Lift indicated that our boat weighed around 18,500 pounds according to the Travl Lift scale. Your convertible should weigh less since it does not have the aft cabin. Con...

Re: What's the best bottom paint

Have been using Pettit Ultima eco (Copper Free) paint for the past several years. Have been seeing very good results. Our boat was hauled last Friday and the marina staff said that the bottom looked the best out of any boat that they pulled this fall. They also indicated that it was the easiest to p...

YouTube Video Series Aluminum Strut Fabrication

I just finished watching a series of videos on YouTube of a machinist fabricating an aluminum strut for a boat. It looks like the strut would fit a 37', 39' or 41' Marinette. I thought it was very interesting. In the last video he installed a bronze cutlass bearing with tef gel.. I would have put a ...

Re: Bridge clearance

I would say that it would be 12' to 14' to the top of the bridge windshield. If you have a Bimini, you may be right around 19'.
Don't forget to lower your antennas.
Have a great trip.

Re: raw water sea strainer replacement

I forgot to mention. We had a cover gasket sealing issue on both of our strainers. We found that there was a small step in the gasket sealing surface by the strainer inlet and outlet. The step was at the seam where both halves of the mold mated. We machined the gasket surface to remove the step. I a...

Re: raw water sea strainer replacement

Someone posted several years ago that the sea strainers were made by San Juan Engineering & Manufacturing. They are who I ordered my replacements from. In 2010 they were $5.00 each.

Re: Following Seas

Our 39 handles them pretty well. I have to remember to not to use too much trim tab when the waves are 3' or more. The boat will try to turn when running down the face of a wave and we hit the next.

Re: Fuel Filter

I just replaced the filter elements on our Perko's last month. I think that the Perko's are very good filters.
The part number for the element is: 0324001ELM.

I ordered them from http://www.marinepartssource.com. They are $12.41 ea.

Good Luck.
