Re: Perko 299 separator disassembly

I'm tempted to get someone like USA Fuel Service to clean the tanks (2) then replace the elements. Recommend this: clean the elements and the canister (just wipe it out). Run the engine for an hour or so and inspect what you get out of the canister. If you continually get cruddy fuel from the canis...

From the pic, anode looks good. Cleaned up it should be good to go for another season. useful life is said to be when it reaches 50% of its orig size. I would take two half shot anodes and put them together.

Re: Reverse rotation?

(pls don't rely on this answer because it's just a guess and I'm willing to be wrong in public) There doesn't seem to be the need for reverse rotation in a single screw. But it's def required for twins. If you're impatient for an answer you can google it

Re: fridge removal?

If I recall more correctly, it was two holes, not one. One hole low, allowing cooler fresh air to enter and the other hole high to allow warm air to escape, setting up a small but useful air current. Batteries not needed

Re: fridge removal?

In my '32 FBS, the fridge compartment in the galley adjoined the wall to the head. I cut a hole in that wall and covered it with a piece of stock louvre with screening behind it. That allowed somewhat more air to circulate in that closed space

Good series of pix. They make a good case for power washing on haulout and not letting the stuff dry

Re: Number of Boats' built ?

I call your attention to this authoritative article by Jack Hornor for Boats US: http://www.boatus.com/boatreviews/power/marinette32.asp In it, you will see reference to the introduction of the 32" sedan in 1976. He says 1,800 were made in the course of its run until the company foundered 14 ye...

Re: Hull Preparation & Painting

I coated everything coatable with the proper primer including tabs and rudder. Also, the reason to use alternating colors is so you can spot places where the paint has worn thru. I never thought it mattered which color to use on the bottom since you see so little of it from above the water except if...

Re: Propeller purchasing - comments on...

Don't sweat corrosion worries using bronze props--just keep good anodes on the shafts. Jeff I'd revise that a bit to say making sure your shafts are isolated is key here. I used the shaft zincs and they never wore, a sign that there was no shaft corrosion going on (and there never was) because the ...
