Re: Who to not to shop from

I hope they work. My complaint is paying $81 for them to put them in a box for the Post Office to ship them. Doing a little research and have found that they are famous for sending the wrong or defective parts and will not send the correct ones unless you pay for them twice. One website showed over ...

Who not to shop from

Just a warning to my friends out there. Bought two starters from Basic Power Industries ( also on the web as eBasic Power) They are in Harkers Island NC .Phone (252) 728-5566. I paid $67 for postage and $81 for "handling" for the package. Talked to customer service, and their attitude was ...

1Boatngmom, and anybody else, how to put in an Avatar (little picture). Hard part for me was to figure out how to start a new topic. For the avatar, or most any picture you want to post on the site, it will be too big, so you have to shrink it first. So open another tab and go to shrinkpictures.com....

Re: Retrofitting bow anchor platform

The ammo box seems like a good idea. For the water in the box, I would just drill a drainage hole down low.

Re: dip stick for 318

Some marine engines have a different oil pan but most are the same. Take the old dip stick to a wrecking yard and compare.

Re: hull repair

Gas tank? or more likely the water tank up front. There are differences in every boat, but most of the fuel tanks are near the engines.

Re: insurance providers

I shopped around and found Progressive to be the best for me. Bundled the cars with the boat and was even better. (you don't have to wait for the car insurance to expire, just change it and Progressive will tell the old one to give you a pro-rated refund) I would look at what you pay for what you ge...

Re: Retrofitting bow anchor platform

A lot of boats here (and mine) use a plastic container on the foredeck to hold the anchor chain because it won't go down into the chain locker. (I have a milk crate, seems to be sturdy and work well. Just not very nautical) I can see that a pulpit would be nice, but not worth all the money and troub...

Re: hull repair

If you can get to the other side of the dent, put a block of wood over the dent and use a big hammer to pound it back to shape. No big deal.

Re: Marinette saves garage.

If you like the boat, and everything else is in good shape, I would buy it back from the insurance company . It looks like the only damage is to the cockpit and that would be easy to fix. You have a trailer, I would just take it to a good welding shop and have them push the roof back up and replace ...
