Holding tank vent

I'm putting in a new waste (head) water holding tank system. I've determined that a Moeller 20gal tank will fit in the forward berth area. That area is divided by PO into an upper section (nearest to the bow) and a lower section (nearest the bulkhead in the 'dressing area'. It is that lower area whe...

Re: Propeller Shaft Anodes

I use the shaft anodes from BoatZincs as well. Always a good idea in my mind.

Re: Understanding the CAPAC

As (un)luck would have it, the silver oxide portion of my unit fell off sometime during last season. I discovered this just after haulout in October. Had found Ward's Marine last week to check on replacement. Got a call from.their tech who advised the whole "pie pan" thru hull unit has to ...

Re: Hull Plugs

Just a note, which may be silly to add, but ensure any brush that you use to clean up the threads of either the plug or the plug hole is stainless steel. Carbon steel brushes (like some of the more inexpensive battery brushes) can set up corrosion.

Re: Packing Gland Hose Replacement

From an admittedly naïve standpoint.... Would the following work for expanding the 1 3/4" hose up 1/8" (ie. to reach the 1 7/8" size). 1. put the 1 3/4" hose in a vice (using a plug of some type situated down inside it - recessed sufficiently down inside to simulate the amount of...

Re: Haul Out Schedule

Carl, Full length bearings aren't needed. The supporting points are more than adequate. Additionally, when it comes time to change them (in several years), you'd find it very tuff to remove. NOTE - FastJeff had a process on an old site that used a reverse ground "V" chisel to remove old be...

Re: What's in a Boat's Name?

When we bought our boat in June 2010, we wanted to name her something that reflected the Admiral and my way of thinking. We also wanted to include our children in the process. After several entries we went with Sunset Seeker. The "why".. Reflected a wanderlust view of boating We boat on th...

Re: Suggestions for storage and bottom painting in Kentucky or area

For storage in the Cincinnati area, I'd recommend Rivertowne Marina. http://www.rivertownemarina.com/pricing--rules-and-regs.html They have a good outdoor storage area and you can contact Bill at 513-533-3000 and arrange placement in an area that will allow for sand/soda blasting of your boat's hull...

Re: What's in a Boat's Name?

Carl,

Great story.

Would you want others to share how / why they named their boats as they have?
