Re: Thompson help!

..."63 Thompson, that I converted from an outboard to inboard."

That sure is backasswards from the usual conversion. Bet that was a ton of work.

Most of the aluminum stuff on Marinettes (for example) was custom rolled extrusions. You'll probably have to cobble something up.

Re: Anode advice

Agreed with the following comment: What does your CAPAC say? That should be your guide as to having "too much" anodes on there or not enough. My old boat (fairly fresh water) needed the usual mag-alum units plus a block of magnesium on the trim tab to keep the CAPAC readings in mid-range. ...

Re: 1984 360 RAW Water Pump

I kept a spare everything on mine!

Strongly recommend NOT rebuilding these pumps. The kit costs about half of what a new pump runs, is a dog to do, and can leak water into the bearing (ruining it) if your work is not perfect.

Re: Perko 299 separator disassembly

Oh yeah... The pants on fire incident. Don't have a photo of that, but the memory remains. I was talking with a few lovely ladies at work a few years ago. Had just come from the boiler shop where sparks set the cuffs of my jeans on fire! The nice rings of orange were spotted by one of the girls, who...

..."I'm curious to see what blackmail ammunition you have in your pouch."

Plenty! But we wouldn't want people to see THOSE photos!

Re: Hull Preparation & Painting

Somebody makes a plastic keel protector deal that attaches to the keel. (Forget the manufacturer.) Supposed to eliminate that problem.

Re: Reverse rotation?

Jeff (the other) I too have wondered about that. I guess the trans guys had yet to make the reversing setup in the trans. Hell of a lot easier this way, and less confusing when working on the engines.

Re: Perko 299 separator disassembly

The Perko separator is about 30 microns, so it does remove small particles. By my "bowling balls" remark I meant relatively large particles compared to a 10 micron filter before the carb. On those tiny filters in the carb, the problem with them is that they are too small. The carb filter i...
