You mention the owner was a volunteer USCG Aux. This boat would not pass their own Aux. CME !

A complete survey would be a must and very concerned about hull in salt water. Comment "Minor Pitting" Yes? No?
Proceed with caution. I see at least 20K would go into a basic restoration. I would question "boat was well maintained"

Personally I would walk on this one. Lots of fresh water boats in better condition. Look for one that has been in fresh and in covered slips. Amazing how little they weather when covered! While my 29 could use cosmetic work there is no issues in the interior etc. and the hull is perfect. Best of luck you will find a nice one at a fair price.

safe harbors,

dave

Thanks jralbert. Great response and spot on. I have fallen in love with the idea but not the amount of work it would take to restore the craft to my expectations. It would distract from many other rec opportunities and responsibilities, and basically consume all my free time. Not sure I am ready for that.

Thanks again.

So if anyone is interested in this boat. It is in Camden, North Carolina. Pictures are in a post above. I can connect you to the seller.

Offer him a reasonable figure and, if he's not interested, walk away.

As I said, lots of far better deals out there. Seriously.

I just bought a '75 37 sedan that's in need of a total refit. One thing to consider is that they are 13.5 feet wide. I had to hire a tractor trailer to move it because in my state anything over 12' requires an escort car. I tow my 12' wide 32 with just regular permits. That was a cost I didn't expect.
They are worth whatever you think they are
