While winterizing my boat this fall, I finally learned, by accident, something I've dealt with for 7 years. ( I'm a slow learner) On starting my 7.5 diesel Kohler, the fuel solenoid will sometimes not snap in, especially after sitting a long time. I've been pushing both the start & oil pressure by-pass switches at the same time. I simply use a piece of broom handle to help the solenoid in. Well in doing so this year I looked at the position of broom handle and hit the oil pressure by-pass switch first. guess what it snaps right in! Hit the by-pass first it goes right in every time. The voltage drop of starter load is enough to prevent the solenoid from snapping in!! You guys probably already knew this. I guess with gas generators though, just the ignition is disconnected. Oh well might be helpful to someone.
