Engine Swap

Post by TinLizzy »

I decided to swap out my 318's for a pair of 350 Chevy's. Has anyone else done this in a 28 express? I think I might run into a clearance issue with the floor, since the Chryslers are real tight as it is. I plan on using the existing 1:1 velvet drive transmissions. Any insight from someone that has done this swap would be appreciated. From what I can tell the 32's had more room under the floor for engine clearance than the 28's.

Looked heavily into a 350 swap for the current 318's, in the end decided to stay with the 318's. Motor mounts, bell housings all the re positioning verses old out and new in was certainly the path of least resistance. Never been a Chrysler fan but after a lot of research found the 318 to be a well proven, reliable engine. Mine were built bone stock, other than being bored 30 over. As this is being written the boat is in the yard for the swap.
