1.25" ID is correct, make sure you get rigid water hose, vacuum hose, otherwise the suction from the pump will make it collapse.

Thanks for the input. I was a bit nervous with the coupling idea. I will go ahead and remove and try to match up correct hose type

Get marine hose. Remember that hose sits just below the water line It is 1 1/4" hose
