What have you been using to replace the gasket material on the foredeck hatch ?

Foam backer rod from the lumber yard. Get more than you think you need, glue it on with silicone caulk.

Worked for me too.

I think my hatch is stamped Becksen a little hard to read it .The gasket material is a hard rubber and is measures apprx 3/8 X 5/16 with a hole through the center. I searched the internet but could not find this size material. The boat is a 1973 28 Hardtop express. . The rubber is still plyable but I would like to replace it if I can find a supplier. Are the cam locks on the hatch adjustable ? I just can't get them tight enough to keep the sun light from shining in around the hatch. If I turn them tighter they unlock. Any additional help.

I'll try this. My hatch is a Zimmco and it had a square O-ring gasket that was petrified. I tried a Buna replacement and find it is too hard.

The other issue I have with the hatch is condensation on the interior. Has anyone tried coating the hatch with anything or making an insulated plug to push up against the hatch?

Can't help with the gasket part but can- a bit - with the other. Interior condensation is a problem, I am guessing, with most hatches. Broiling hot sun on the outside, cooler air on the inside = condensation. Then, reverse at night.
I had drops on my head or wet covers in the bunk until I came up with a year round solution. Can't remember the name of the mfr (West Marine sold them) but it's a solar powered fan installed in the hatch. It has a battery so it's powered 24/7 year round. even in winter, you need moving/fresh air to reduce mildew. The opening required fit my hatch exactly. Someone better with a drill saw than I cut the circle in the hatch. The rest was extremely easy. Some silicone, drop in, tighten screws and done.
