71 32 Express toilet replacement
I own a 71 32' Express, my toilet does not currently work. It has an electrical connection on the left rear top side, opened up electrical compartment the electrical/mechanical parts looked to be corroded and inoperable. The toilet also has a vent running from the top left rear of the toilet. The lower rear toilet has a discharge hose that runs through the engine compartment to the deck for pump out. I do not see a water connection or tank. Did these boats have a self contained unit ? I would like to replace, any suggestions on replacement toilets ?

Fish Tale 32,
Welcome aboard.
Sounds like you may have to start your toilet project from scratch
Look at this sight to compare the type of toilet.
http://raritaneng.com/category-pages/ch ... ne-toilet/
My last two marinettes had Raritan Crown Heads and raritain offers exchanges for the lower electrical motor on these heads at a good price.
You will probably need a holding tank. There are lots of manufactures out there. Use poly or plastic. not Aluminum \
Usually placed in the v berth or under forward facing dinette seat.
The older Marinette's had direct discharge with no holding tanks. Illegal now.
Look around the floor at the rear of the toilet you should see a 3/4" pipe that goes to the bottom of the boat. Thats your water pick line to the toilet.
Good luck

Re: 71 32 Express toilet replacement
Fish Tale 32, I have a 32 express & my poly holding tank is just in forward of the rudders in that rear hatch. You will need a 3/4 " vent line w/ filter coming off tank thru, hull above waterline. You will need a pipe(pvc) running from bottom side of tank to a pump out fitting I used pvc pipe ( much cheaper & doesn't have to be changed every 3 years instead of sanitary hose & put a clean out in the head.

Re: 71 32 Express toilet replacement
Thanks for the info, sorry for the late reply. Just got back from spending time on the boat salmon fishing ! I did not see water line as indicted. I may have to pull the whole thing apart to see what I really have. I do not really have a need for a large waste tank as I mainly use boat for fishing. I use the club house facilities while in the Marina. It would be nice to have something functional for late night or guest use while on the water. Plus the old one has a bit of an odor !
I will investigate further. Yes I am in Muskegon. Muskegon Conservation Club.

Fishtale, I thought so. If I look straight off the stern of my '72 express, I have a perfect view of your boat. Let me know if you need a hand with something. I still would like to see how a few things are set up on your boat.

Re: 71 32 Express toilet replacement
My 87 29 has the original Traveler Head which sits atop of a 9 gallon holding tank. Mine also was converted to accept a Macerating pump which pumps waste back to a 30 gallon poly tank which is below deck on a shelf at the transom. This system works very well.
I found a replacement which has the 9 gallon setup without an external holding tank. You might find this setup the best for your situation.
