EVERYTHING must be replaced! Hoses permeate and stink. Tanks rot. Fittings break off.

A trick I used after a leak on mine was to dump a bottle of mint flavored Listerine mouthwash in the bilge, then let it sit for for a week. Sucked it out with a shop-vac and seemed to get rid of the stench.

Activated charcoal (avail at tropical fish stores) is quite effective at holding odors (and is fairly cheap and re-usable)
