I also have a portable unit. Sears I think. Previous owner included it with the boat. Does a fantastic job of keeping the cabin comfortable on the few days in northern MI that it's hot enough to need AC.

Yes, BTU would be helpful. Really leaning towards a portable. I like the aesthetics of the old girl (mine's a 1962 30') so I'd have to do some soul searching to cut any holes or have anything showing outside that would detract from her looks. To me she's perfect the way she is. At the end of the day I see myself with one or two portable combination a/c and heat.

We currently have a window unit a/c unit and we will try that out first.
However I like the idea of heat as well.
Might be worth a try. Although it can get quite humid here in Louisville at times.
I guess any type of system will have to deal with that though.

Sorry for not including btu info. 12,000 btu. Vent fits nicely in salon port side sliding window. Run drain line into bilge.

I have one which came with my boat when I bought it 6 yrs. ago. Fits in the front deck hatch . Previous owner only used it at the dock , since there's no gen set on mine. I use it to cool my workshop when needed during the summer. Not sure the info on it but will check it out if someone is interested.

We bought a Coleman 13,000 BTU unit used for RVs. Fits the existing roof opening. A bit weak but good enough.

Remember we should use only boat safe heaters. I have heard of insurance company refusing to pay a fire claim because the boat owner had the wrong kind of heater. Just saying.

In the cabin roof, under the helm seat (or where it used to be).
