Windlass replacement

Post by ericinga »

Our 32 has a Good CFD windlass installed. This model is rope only.

I've found most of the bottom of lake Lanier is hard clay (or trees) and a chain helps secure the anchor.

Which windlass does everyone prefer? Which one works best with rope / chain combos?

The Good rope/chain replacement is $1,600 including a $300 trade in credit for my current unit.

I'm looking at a Lewmar Pro Series 700 or 1000 for next season.

Been using a Lewmar Pro Fish 700 for the past 10 years. No problems works with chain or rope. I use 8 plait rode and a Delta Deep set anchor.
Lots of blue clay on Lake Barkley and Ky lakes.

I also have a Lewmar pro fish 700 with chain, rope and Delta deepset anchor on my 28' Marinette express. I anchor on Lake Erie , sometimes in 60-70' of water, holds great.
