Aft Deck, partial replacement

Post by SunbeamIV »

Has anyone replaced a section or smaller area of the aft deck? I have about a 3-4" wide x 6" long strip between the transom and the hatch that is getting soft. There is an existing seam in the nautolex in way of the soft area already.

I renewed my aft hatch this winter and was able to carefully remove the nautolex and re-use it, so my plan now would be to carefully peel the nautolex away cut out the bad wood and replace just this section. Am I dreaming, or does this sound feasible?

can't see why not if the nautolex comes off in one piece. Don't forget to seal the new wood on both sides and edges. But you knew that already. good luck with the project. One caveat... if that one section is rotting, other sections may be, too
