Gray Marine oil change

Post by shelbygt »

Was reading my Gray Marine shop manual for my AMC 327 on how to change oil. Directions say A Gray Marine sump is placed over dipstick tube, not down the dipstick tube. The tube must go down close the the bottom of the oil pan? Is there a suitable alternative to the Gray Marine pump they suggest?

Your question is confusing to me. Am I missing something? Just stick a pump tube down the dip stick tube and suck it out. I have a pump like this one that works great. http://www.amazon.com/Shoreline-Marine- ... e+oil+pump. Done in 15 min ;)

My Gray Marine shop manual says to connect hose to the top of the dipstick tube. Evidently the dipstick tube goes to near the bottom of the pan and that's what the Gray Marine oil change pump uses to pump oil out of the crankcase. I'm seeing some of those out there for OMC too. I'll pobably end up using the one that snakes a tube down the dipstick tube.

Thanks!
