Wood engine mount spacer thickness
I am in the process of reinstalling the 318 Chrysler engines in in my 32 FB Sedan and I noticed that the wood engine spacers are different thicknesses—by about 1/4". First I thought it was because the inboard engine stringer was lower to account for the the slope of the hull, but they appear to be level. Any ideas or information would be appreciated. This is the same for the front set (with 2 holes) and the rear set (three holes). Also, why was there a sheet of rubber wrapped around the wood?

I used scrap pieces of 3/8" marine ply from my dad's boat building project. The wood that was in there was smashed, split, rotten, and spongy. I figure at least the ply won't split. Had no problems in lining the engine or running out of adjustment.

I can't advise on the correct thickness, but I replaced the old wood spacers with 1/4 Starboard. It won't rot. A wood spacer is a short term solution. There is lots of adjustment in the mounts to align.
