I tear them down, machine shop does all of the work, then I put them back together and hope for the best! I am from a generation that rebuilt the engines in the cars we drove several times over! Small Block Chevy's are pretty simple

Ditto! Good luck.

Did you have your transmissions rebuilt too?

Did not rebuild tranny's. Just replaced fluid. Money runs out eventually!

Know that all to well, I was afraid not to have them done. Everything seemed fine but while they were out went ahead and bit the bullet.

While they are out: Plumbing for head, blower motors, all wiring and battery cables, 120v breaker box, all new motor mounts, new prop shafts, props, bearings, rudders, battery boxes, all new exhaust hoses, fresh water strainers, water separators, fuel line - should I continue? Oh, and the cost to rebuild 2 small block chevy's and add fresh water cooling system. After that, the boat will still need to be stripped an painted, and aluminum tubing for rails replaced with stainless along with new bases. Also need to redo helm with gauges I can read. Would not mind a boat cover as well. Should have got into boating when I was 20, will never get all of this done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
