Oil Pump for 318

Post by GregM »

What oil pump should we be using for a rebuilt 318 marine engine? I am replacing a bad engine and the rebuild didn't come with an oil pump and I don't want to reused the old one. I see standard and high volume but wasn't sure which is more appropriate?

I will second the advice on the standard pump. The high volume will only bypass the filter when cold and cause oil leaks when warm.

Just make sure you clean out the pickup tube and suction screen well. Many a new engine has met an early death from dirty suction screen.
