Oil Filter Adapter plug?

Oil Filter Adapter plug?

Should this plug be removed before installing the oil filter adapter? See attachment

That plug stays in. The bypass is built into the filter housing.

Thank you EWRice for the confirmation and piece of mind! This is my second go at replacing the motor I was hoping this wasn't something I over looked on the previous motor that broke a valve that destroyed the piston in cylinder 1. Is it safe to assume that other oil passage plugs that come installed in a rebuilt motor should not need removed?

The only oil passage that you should have to worry about is the one for the sending unit next to the distributor.
