Since you have increased your rpm and hp, maybe you should look at a different prop to take advantage of that. I am not necessarily talking different diameter or pitch, but a different blade design. The factory props are good, but do slip alot. I installed Acme CNC props on my 32 this year. I don't have her in the water yet (next week) but just looking at the blade area and design looks promising. This is the same style used on ski boats. I posted about these props this winter.

There is no cavation that I can tell. I will consider prop changes down the road after I get her to Norris Lake and she is fully loaded. Thanks for the comment.

We ran Blue Sky more Saturday for three hours after the Starboard engine head gasket replacement. I do not have all the details but engine builder thinks we had a detentation problem. More on this later after I talk to him. Anyway she perfect Saturday. I will be running her again this week to log 20 hours total on the engines then we will change the oil and filters. Assuming all goes well, I will call the boat hauler.

So was 4300 rpm and 36 mph still your best performance thus far ? Is your bottom clean at the time of testing ??

Yes the bottom is clean with fresh paint. Testing continues tomorrow all day until there is 20 hours on them. Then an oil change with Joe Gills Racing 10w40 zinc package oil for that flat tappet cam. Gotta tell you they sound great in that bilge! Throttle response is very good!

Good evening, long day of test running Blue Sky and it went very well. They have almost 20 hours on them now and sounded great all day. Spent the day cruising at 14 to 1800rpm and with an occasional gradual acceleration to 26 to 3600rpm for short periods of time and back down to cruising speed. They finally told me why the head gaskets blew, used the cheaper metal head gaskets and improper torque value on the heads at installation. They now have Fel-Pro composite head gaskets torqued to 115ft.lbs. so it's time for an oil change and call the boat hauler after punch list items are corrected. One other thing, 11 degrees of timing are set on the distributors. We get a one warranty on the rebuilt engines.

11 degree initial timing sounds a bit high.

Hey Jeff! Thanks for your comment. I will look into it. They have great acceleration and start easy even when cold. No black smoke or blue smoke or fumes. Let's hope it stays that way for a long time!
