Having second thoughts on this project: If you have 318s, and want to upgrade to 360s, you have to change all kinds of stuff (oil pan, flywheel, etc.). Going this way retains all that 318 stuff!

Damn clever.

Jeff, we must be telepathically connected :) I just came to the same conclusion yesterday as I got the part list back and realized its only $800 more to get the stroker and + 100hp.

Pretty sure I'll be getting mine from Atlantic Marine. 2 year warranty and they do a ton of them.

1 question I have is to keep counter rotating or to go standard. There is about a $400 savings going standard and I can put that toward a CNC prop if that makes the boat more efficient.

You would also have to factor in the tranny if you are planning on switching from counter rotation to standard rotation.

(record scratch) In that case, I'll pay the extra 400 and keep my RH 14x11 & new 14 10

If you have the Borg-Warner Velvet Drive you can use the same transmission and just change the way it is set up. You might want to rebuild it anyway. When you put it back together, you have to know which way it is going to rotate.-Ed

You think I should rebuild it even if I stay CCW? Supposedly, it only has 200 hrs on it but its over the course of 15 years. The oil is clean but its rusty as heck.

Salt water? If yes, go for a rebuilt long block.

A reputable builder will sonically inspect the parts before using them to see if they are rusted thin.

I have had difficulty posting videos or photos on the forum. I have all the part numbers from scat enterprises and the engine builders contact info if interested. The cams were custom ground as they are not available. The engines were built to produce torque. Send me a message and will be happy to take photos and a video of them from a cold start.
