Question:
I got a replacement pump that was rebuilt and tested. It turns pretty easily (twist it with one hand). My old one ended up being OK but turns with 25% more resistance. That was the issue earlier in the thread (a loose belt made it look like a shot pump)
How hard or easy should the pump be to turn? I can't find specs online. I am wondering if my mechanic put too large of impellers in when he rebuilt it last.

Re: Raw Water Pump Rebuild
I'd be more concerned with the one that turns easily. They should be hard to turn.

Got it. The easier one still requires me to hold the back and twist close to the body to get it to turn. Just not as hard as the other.

Re: Raw Water Pump Rebuild
A reason that one may turn easier than the other is that liquid detergent or some other lubricant may have been added to allow for easier insertion of the impeller into the housing.

Re: Raw Water Pump Rebuild
I sure hope so! Dry starting it can do lots of damage.
