That relay was used to remove battery power to the main stud on the alternator with the key off. I've never seen that on any Chrysler marine engine factory equipped with a Prestolite charging system 1972-1991.

Gentlemen: I am attaching the wire AWG recommendations for a single wire Alternator lead to battery. Remember distance is very important when selecting the proper size. (for a circuit it is the round trip distance /amperage)

10 AWG IS NOT SUFFICEINT for a 1 wire alternator putting out 60-70 amps! See the attachment.
