Well, it seems I'm still searching for a 1972 318 head for my 28' express, single. The mechanic says, as best he can tell, the casting # is 2843875-21. EWRice, you mentioned that with the casting number you would check to see if you might have one compatible, if you would do this I would be grateful. I've been fighting this all summer and now just trying to get it running in order to Winterize.
Regards to all,

Might be worth giving these guys a call http://www.dougrussell.com/engines-ster ... inder-head

They list the marine 318 head on the website but it seems a little vague about whether or not they have it in stock.

Might the number be 2843675? That is the generic 68-74 318 head. I will check my stock tonight. How many do you need?

Just need one.. Starboard side but understand both are the same, regardless of side.

The only 2843675 head I have is in my scrap pile. Don't know why, but it has been blasted so I assume it is cracked. Your head is a large chamber head. The only good heads I have are small chamber. However, I compared your head to some others in my scrap pile. 4027593 (77-84 318) has the same chamber design and size, as well as valve size. Being a later design, you are gauranteed hardened exhaust seats and rotators on the springs, both a plus. The only difference I see is that some of these heads were drilled for A.I.R. ports. Other than that, they are the same as what you need. Chrysler did not make a special marine head, so any head with the correct chamber will work. PM me if you need more specific info and I will give you my number.
