new fuel lines

any one redo there fuel lines-did you use braided lines and if you did did you use nipples on the fuel pump and carb?

Use only USCG approved alcohol resistant lines for hard runs copper. Believe the rubber lines are Type A or A-1 3/8 inch ID Nipple are used on pump outlet and carb inlet when flexible fuel line is used. OEM used steel line from Pump outlet to canister filter then steel or copper to carb. Might have been different on pre 80's boats.

USCG/SAE J 1527 Type A1 ISO 7840-A1 CE

I have not seen an approved braided line.

when replacing the carb to a new edelbrock the fuel line is different -making a new hard line with a fuel filter is what I made up but with the vibration I am looking for a different way-I was going to use stainless steel braided to run over the exhaust manifold so it would take any heat from the manifold and be safer to all the vibrations on the engine. your thoughts?

When going to the Edelbrock carb, you just need the brass adapter to go from 5/16 to 3/8 inverted flare. Most parts stores should be able to get it. Summit or Jegs has them too.

Do not run any type of fuel line near the exhaust. Even engine coolant is too hot. The fuel will boil and you will have vapor lock and no fuel to the carb.--Ed

so how hot does the exhaust manifold get on a 440 Chrysler-my recollection is it does not get too hot to the touch.

When using a 1409 or 1410 Edelbrock we reuse the original Carter fuel inlet nut. The threads are an oddball size. Makes swapping into them a snap.
