Bought some led replacement bulbs to try as replacement to incandescents in instruments. Work great! Takes a little pressure to get them into sockets but they do work fine. Only caveat.... appears the instrument maker put a orangeish rubber "hood" over the regular bulb to dim them a bit. The instrument's display seems to be more "defined" which I like. The leds don't appear to project too much light when facing the instrument. Looking at the instrument from behind... the whole body of the instrument "glows". Since there's little heat from these, I don't think (to be determined) it'll be a problem. The rubber "hood" will fit over the new led's if needed. Plan on also replacing the upper station's (and lower station's overhead console's) backlight's with same type.

When you upgraded to led for the anchor, port and starboard did you have to replace the fixtures or is there a conversion for using the old fixture?

You can usually get by with changing just the bulb out to led, or the whole fixture if you felt like it.

Modern LED's fit a variety of sockets. They have standard designation and you just have to make sure you know what socket you have -- the fixture mfr can tell you if it isn't otherwise clear. Changing the fixture isn't necessary. LED's are a vast improvement over the 12v incandescent bulbs mainly in their lower current draw and longer life span.
