Shore power - 28 Express

Post by rlambert »

We just purchased a 1973 28ft Express and my 30amp shore power cord did not fit, the one that came with is is pretty rough. I am wondering if it has 50amp service? The plug has one prong turned out. In the breaker box there is a 20a and 30a breaker. I have not trace wires yet but there is only a non working fridge, some outlets, and a fresh water pump as far as I can tell. If so can I convert to 30amp? Our 32footer has 30amp and that is plenty. I dont want lots of different cords!

Usually only really big boats with high loads have a 50 amp service. It is always possible that someone converted it to something else, like a rv 30 amp. Take a closer look at it and compare it with some images of 30 amp rv and marine connectors.
