Distributor Thrust Collar dimensions needed for Pertronix

Post by barkleydave »

I received the following response from Mr. Rodger Wilkinson the engineer who has been helping improve the Distributor for our 318's.

Please post your findings on this thread and I will forward them to Mr. Wilkinson. He has been very helpful.

Dave,

"During the last several years it has been brought to our attention that reverse rotating Mopar marine engines have more than one size of thrust collars. So far we have seen three different collars. Our distributor design has been modified to accommodate the known thrust collars and the new lots of machined billet distributors will have the modifications that permit proper fitment in automotive, marine, and reverse rotating marine engines. Until the latest design modifications get through the manufacturing cycle we will modify as needed the marine distributors for reverse rotating Mopar engines.

If your forum can summarize the known thrust collars in dimensions (OD, ID, and length) and depth into the engine we will again verify that the series of modifications made to the Mopar distributor design will interface properly with all thrust collars and depths."
