Capac component replacement

Post by bcassedy »

When I pulled the boat this fall, I found the disk on the Capac meter is missing! (ie the outside 'cover' of the thru hull unit). Can this be repaired or is a replacement of the entire thru hull unit recommended/required?

Thx,
Bill

Possibly, but--boy howdy!--will it be expensive. You can make yourself a portable deal for well under $100 that works even better (except not underway).

There's a thread on this somewhere here.

I agree with Jeff. They are available one sore I believe in FL. Cathode was over 400 bucks!

Ouch

Thanks guys! Guess it'll boil down to practicality (make/use a homemade unit) vs esthetics/function of a standard unit (which, when the time comes, may play into the sale of the boat (and the inevitable notation by a surveyor of the absence of the cathode to a possible buyer)).
