It never occurred to me to paint over that wall paper, but it looks good on the video. On my 28' the wall paper was soiled so I removed it from the firewall and replaced it with vinyl wainscoting. I replaced the head/galley bulkhead with a sandwich of 1/4" plywood and vinyl wainscoting. The panels attached to the hull were only 1/4" plywood so I replaced them with the same thing, but back-primed and glued vinyl to the front side. The originals held up for 30+ years with only a little rot and I used them for templates. If I had it to do over again I'd use epoxy paint on both sides of the panels It was a real PIA to glue the vinyl to the plywood and I got a couple bubbles though fortunately they were not noticeable in the final installation.

I'm trying to convince myself to do a 37. . . .

I am very pleased on how it turned out, and will definitely do it again if needed. Good quality paint and primer and you will have no issues, and so many colors to choose from.

((BTW, I am reluctant to be the Spelling Cop, but what the heck -- it's a berth not a birth. I'm sure that was a typo, yes?))

I think so. I Googled Vee Birth and found it very informative, but not much about boats.
