Head Restoration Complete
Head Restoration Complete
Here are some pictures of my head restoration now complete. I pulled out the old toilet and then the aluminum basin, the basin went to a weld shop to plug weld the holes from the original toilet then off to a sandblast and powder coat shop. I went with blue as I wanted the contrast between it and the new white porcelain Raritan toilet. I deliberately chose a small marine toilet to give me a little more real estate when showering. Installed a new Rule brand shower sump under the forward sole. All new hoses, clamps and Marelon through hull fittings for this system. Removed the holding tank from under the v-berth and replaced it with a Raritan marine sanitation device, the toilet and MSD are all one touch operation now. Installed a new GFI outlet/cover with a built in nightlight. I removed the sink/faucet and the shower faucet, cleaned the original countertop which cleaned up like new. The sink too cleaned up like new, I reinstalled the sink, bedding it down to the countertop with the proper sealant. I pulled out all of the aluminum and teak moldings as well as the cabinet doors. I caulked behind all of the aluminum moldings to help waterproof the joints. All of the teak including the parquet floor got the usual three part treatment, cleaner, brightener and oil. The walls all got a good scrubbing with a bathroom cleaner and lots of water. Installed a new sink faucet as well as a new shower faucet, remarkably found the exact same replacement faucets as originally installed way back in 1990 at Camping World of all places. Also installed new towel racks, toilet paper holder, teak bar soap dish, teak hand soap pump holder and a new shower curtain, the shower curtain needed to be shortened a little and hemmed to fit properly. I had to buy new shower curtain roller clips for the track on the ceiling as they were wasted, found exact replacement roller clips online at http://www.sailrite.com. All I need now are my window curtains and the head is done!

Re: Head Restoration Complete
if so, I hope you installed an auxiliary waste tank so you don't have to dump that tiny tank every few days.
