So, after searching all day with no luck, I'm trying to think outside of the box regarding the rudder log hose.... I am thinking that I go ahead and buy the straight 1 7/8" hose. I only need to reduce the size of the hose 1/8"... so how about I take an old bicycle tube and stretch it over the stuffing box (using a little silicon or 5200 to seal it to the box) leaving the tube long enough to double it back on itself. I should be able to slip it into the 1 7/8" hose and secure it with the usual S/S hose clamps.

raymuir wrote:@ Metalhead....Did you ever find the rudder stuffing box hose in the 1 7/8" x 1 3/4" configuration? I have a 75 32' sedan slipped in Aquia, Virginia that is in dire need of new plastic stuffing boxes which I did find at a ski boat shop in La. The hose has been elusive...Thanks
I replaced ours with traditional bronze stuffing boxes from Buck Algonquin. Will last longer than the delrin plastic boxes. If bronze stuffing boxes can be used on the prop shafts, they must work on the rudder shafts. You can buy them here. https://www.deepblueyachtsupply.com/. They have great customer service and will answer any questions.

Ok

I want to have a discussion about these stuffing boxes with hoses. Says hoses have 1-7/8 ID and they have several different size shaft options.

https://www.generalpropeller.com/packin ... 00pb125175
Shaft Size: 1.25", Hose ID: 1.75", Packing Size: .25".....

https://www.generalpropeller.com/packin ... ox-00pb113
Shaft Size: 1.125", Hose ID: 1.75", Packing Size: .1875"

https://www.generalpropeller.com/packin ... ox-00pb100
Shaft Size: 1.00", Hose ID: 1.75", Packing Size: .25"

Thoughts?
