Bilge Blower Restoration
Re: Bilge Blower Restoration
Yes, the engines are big air pumps. They will suck the air from the engine room/bilge first. I only modified the exhaust.

Re: Bilge Blower Restoration
Today I installed the two Bilge Blower Hose Anchor Plates into the bilge under the aft deck astern of the two fuel tanks, one on the port side and the other on the starboard. I fabricated them out of ½” thick black starboard material and they measure 12" wide by 7" tall. One hose is routed through my bilge blower and the other is passive. Tomorrow I will fabricate two more single hose anchor plates for the remaining two passive hoses. Photos will follow.

Re: Bilge Blower Restoration
On mine, someone who 'worked' on it before me failed to properly secure all those hoses. The Admiral (wife) and I always ran the blowers for 4 to 5 minutes before starting the engines--using a timer--but the blowers did nothing since the hoses were disconnected!

Today I fabricated and installed my two single "Bilge Vent Exhaust Hose Anchoring Plates". These measure 6" x 9" and secure the last two remaining passive 3" hoses in the system.

Re: Bilge Blower Restoration
Can't see how the hoses are CLAMPED to the vents. That's the critical area, so they don't rattle off on you.

Re: Bilge Blower Restoration
Jeff brings up a very good point that I should have included in my description of the modification upgrade of the bilge blower hose restoration. If you look closely at the picture attached you will see that there are two black tyraps 180 degrees out from one another securing the bilge blower hose to the collector/plenum boxes. There are two small holes 180 degrees apart in the collector/plenum boxes straddling the 3" hole for the hoses, once you twist two or three spirals of the bilge hose wire into the collector/plenum boxes you cut a small slit (just enough for a tyrap to pass through) in each side of the blower hose itself making sure they are right on target with the two holes in the collector/plenum boxes then you pass a tyrap through the slit into the hose, up and over the two or three spirals of bilge hose you twisted up into the collector/plenum boxes and then back through the hole. Cinching it all together and then cutting off the tyrap tail.
