I had the same model on my 32' Express, it always said we were good to go.. Even when I had fuel spraying out of the fuel filter on to the HOT manifold..! I don't trust them..! If my nose says something's not right, then I'm looking for the problem, if the nose says I'm good to go, then I'll go..! Just my thoughts on that model, for what it's worth...

I've heard you can test them by holding a gas soaked rag near one.

I was curious and looked up the instructions for the gasoline fume detector. It cites that they are useable for 9 yrs but because of harsh marine environment, a 3 year replacement. heap for the protection provided
