Wanted to share my video of possibly the most overlooked preventive maintenance on a boat. What’s your thoughts of the most overlooked maintenance item on a boat?

Definitely ranks up there. There are so many different brands of fuel caps, one should find a spare that fits and keep it on board in case it falls overboard, which is known to happen. The other big preventative maintenance item is raw water impellers. A captain should change them out every couple years and have at least one spare on board at all times.

Agree that the caps are one of the long list of preventive checks for M's or any boat. But I would rank checking oil levels and character (milky, water drops) at or near the top

In the earliest days of M forums (this iteration is at the third one since I "came aboard" in the early 90's), there were a lot of queries for "tell me about your boat". The signature solves that.

I had a brittle through hull snap off once. I had never checked them. My Tee shirt was the immediate response, then one end of my favorite French rolling pin. This was an at-the-waterline fitting, below water while underway.
