prop shaft isolation help. Drivesaver not an option

Well I had planned on installing g drivesavers however it looks that due to space constraints between my flange and vdrive, I cannot fit the extra wide drivesaver. I have taken a few pictures of the old school isolator piece that was one my starboard side. I can reuse it however my port side, which is all corroded, is lacking the same piece.
Here is a picture.

Hi have you looked at Federal flexible shaft savers , I don't think they need any additional space to install and are more tolerant to shaft alinement

I would measure the maximum thickness that will fit and make two new ones out of Teflon. Real easy to have a machine shop or any one with a lathe and drill press make out of Teflon. Give them the old one for a sample. Teflon is easy to work with. Then sleeve the bolts and use plastic washers on either side of the bolt. Check with an Ohmmeter when you are done and every time you change the oil or go through the boat, such as pre-launch. I Would put zinc ( silver color ) never copper, anti-seize on the bolt. And use drilled bolts and castle nuts and cotter keys or at least fiber self locking nuts. Good luck-Ed

Here is a bit of an update on this. I have pretty much exhausted my options of an aftermarket solution to fit under my Vdrive. I was able to find the center fiber disk for the other vdrive. This left me with determining just how I would isolate the top of the bolt. I purchased a few packs of flange bushings. We will see how they work out. Will I be able to test for isolation while in the water?

You can use electrical shrink sleeves on the bolt threads as well..

For washers you can make them easily from bleach or other poly bottles. Cut a flat piece out, drill or punch center holes and punch or use scissors for the outside circle. Make some extra. You can make them faster than you can go to the store. After you put it together, test with ohmmeter set on low scale ( about 0--100 ohms ) in or out of the water. Then check every year before you put it in the water.

I did what Collins69s suggested with a bit of "overkill". Used SS metric bolt and doubled up on shrink tubing. Felt more comfort with 2 layers of shrink tubing in place. Test for continuity each year and all's good.

Do your bolts thread into the flange on the transmission?

They are usually nuts and bolts.

coupler passes the bolts through but they screw into the flange. Makes the heat shrink impossible.
