Well it's time to part with Drift Away. I'm selling my 1970 single engine 28 Express.

Drift Away has had two major refits in her life:

1994: New 240 Hp Indmar Chrysler 318 engine ($5,100 for motor alone)
Full Imron paint job.
Replaced stern deck
Replaced cockpit side panels
Replaced stainless steel bow railing and cabin top handrails
Replaced window tracks
$9,000 in addition to engine, total refit: $15,105

2010: Complete bottom paint job
Media blasted to bare metal
5 coat Interlux Interprotect 2000e barrier coat system applied
2 coats of Interlux Trilux 33 anti-fouling paint
Sound proofing (Drift Away might be the quietest Marinette 28)
Sound insulated underside of stern deck with 1 inch thick foam and barrier layer
Installed two Centek Vernatone MKII Dual Stage mufflers
New 30 Gal. water tank
New Raritan PHII marine toilet (full sized seat, just like home!)
New 20 Gal. tank for fresh water supply to toilet
New 30 Gal. waste holding tank, plus Big Orange charcoal filter for vent hose (no bad smells)
New pumps for galley and head sinks
New Swedish Origo unpressurized alcohol stove (great system, safe and effective)
New Sunbrella cockpit enclosure (camper back) with large screened windows
New Raymarine depth sounder
Total refit ~$10,000

Upgrades since 2010:
Garmin GPSMAP 546 High resolution chart plotter with BlueChart G2 Vision Great Lake charts
New VHF radio
New bow roller with Rocna 10 Kg anchor
New Group 27 deep cycle house battery
Combined 2 Group 24 starting batteries for super reliable starting bank
Replaced battery cables and added a Blue Sea ACR (automates charging; no more dead starting batteries!)
New Blue Sea DC fuse system; very clean DC wiring
Value of recent upgrades: $1700

Drift Away is located in Ithaca, NY, at the Allen Treman State Marine Park

The Admiral really wants this sold: Asking $9,700

See it online at BoatTrader or Craigslist Ithaca

New price: $5500

And I hope to God you get it! The market for used boats is in the tank.

Jeff

PS: It's a damn shame a boat like yours doesn't sell for at least 15 grand with all the new parts and etc. you've done to it. But that's boating, I guess...

Thanks Jeff. By following your example I sold Drift Away in four days. ;) I'm certain I left money on the table, but it was time to get it done!

Bought it. I like it. The wife likes it, the grand kids like it, now if I could only dock it without sheer panic all will be well. After 3+ hours of coaching I took it back out without the coach. After 4 near miss attempts to back in, I finally gave up and nosed in to the slip-- tomorrow is another day.

We ALWAYS bowed her into the slip. Much easier. And with my dink on the back, I can use it at the slip.

Jeff, I think I will follow your example, at least for now. Mike, if you are still on the site --Thanks for all the help. You went above and beyond.
