window track
Re: window track
am in need of new tracks for a 28 foot express - There must be something out there that could work - either new plastic or alum - any help would be appreciated
Re: window track
The actual installation of the track itself is pretty straightforward and easy. However, it is a two-person job to get the windows out of the frame - unless, perhaps, you have a reliable suction device to hold the windows firmly.Rob wrote:Switching from plastic to aluminum track takes some work.
I did it once, replacing the plastic track. And, as noted above, those plastic tracks are not for the long term. Leave them if they are intact. But when it's time to replace use only metal track.
There was a post once upon a time that showed how trimming the height of one of the tracks allowed you to just lift the window up and out. At the same time, the window would stay in place under normal use. I think the amount of trim was only 1/8 or 1/4". I do not recall whether that post suggested trimming a second track for the screen. Someone else will have to dig thru the archives to find that very helpful post.

Re: window track
After reading all these posts on window tracks it’s obvious there
no available sorces for replacement. I would be interested in
helping in any way to secure a manufacturing company
to extrude these profiles in a large quantity.

He said he has more in stock and will get more made after he runs out.Ithink the price is very good for this track and the sections are 9' in length. He said he has enough left for three or four more boats and then he will have to get more made.
Interested in purchasing it. I can be reached at+18146710209
